Active Faith and the Sword of the Spirit
|
Active faith moves mountains, calms storms, and has its own language. You can’t be strong in the Lord with a weak language. Every call of God has a faith language. When God called Jeremiah as His spokesmen, Jeremiah’s response was, “Behold, I cannot speak for I am a child” (Jeremiah 1:6). Notice Jeremiah didn’t see himself qualified. It’s true he was not experienced, but he was qualified. Why? Because that whom God calls, God qualifies. Before God could launch Jeremiah into active ministry, God had to correct his language. “But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak” (Jeremiah 1:7). Language reveals calling, anointing, faith, and readiness. Every five-fold ministry gift including apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers, priests, and kings should have a distinctive faith language. When hearts change, language changes. The language of faith is peppered with boldness. When Peter and John were dragged before the Sadducees, their language revealed an association with Jesus. “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13). These two men were known by their boldness in speech. Again, you can’t be strong in the Lord with a weak language. Scripture says, “Let the weak say, I am strong” (Joel 3:10). You can never become strong focusing on your weakness or inabilities. That’s what Jeremiah tried to do. God corrected him. The Holy Spirit can do a lot with those that are willing to change the way they think. Don’t tap into weakness. Get into an agreement with the Holy Spirit. Scripture says, “God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (Ephesians 3:20). That power is the Holy Spirit. Scripture teaches that you will always act like the person you think you are (Proverbs 23:7). This means everything you say is affecting your life in some way. The Holy Spirit gives you the way to deal with this situation. The word of God says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2). Renewing your mind is key. Renewing your mind means changing the way you think. As you change the way you think, you will change the way you speak. This is what Jehovah taught Joshua. “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8). The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit. Scripture teaches, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). The Word of God is your sword. It’s the sword of the Holy Spirit and the sword of the Holy Spirit in your spirit. Meditating on the Word of God will help move the sword of the Spirit from your mind into your spirit. Changing language will confirm it. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8). The kingdom of God responds to God’s word and nothing else. God designed you as his instrument of dominion. He has given you His word to change the way you think, given you His word to call those things that be not as though they were, and given you his word to occupy until he returns. You can’t fail. Renew your mind. Change your language and change your life. Let active faith in the ministry of the Holy Spirit show you the way. |
